AFI KLM E&M has renewed its component repair contract with Johannesburg-based Comair, including the supply of a main base kit and access to the AFI KLM E&M spares pool. Comair currently operates an all-Boeing fleet of 737 Classic and Next-Generation 737s on both its kulula and British Airways (operated by Comair) brands.


Air France-KLM has expanded its strategic cooperation with Etihad Airways through a 10-year Boeing 777 component maintenance agreement worth several hundred million dollars. It comes under the 777 Component Services Program jointly operated with Boeing. Etihad Airways currently operates a fleet of 33 passenger and cargo 777 variants.


Airbus has signed a 10-year Flight Hour Services – Tailored Support Package (FHS-TSP) contract with Tigerair Singapore to provide full component support and fleet technical management services for its A320 Family aircraft. The contract will start in early 2016 and guarantees spare parts availability through an extensive scope of LRUs, components repair, transportation and expendables provisioning together with Fleet Technical Management services to optimise aircraft maintenance and engineering operations. Airbus FHS contracts have now been selected to cover more than 200 aircraft from operators of A320, A330, A380 and A350 XWB.


BAE Systems has recently conducted an extensive review of its RPFH programmes with the main objective being to control costs to provide the stability to underpin these programmes for the future. Detailed discussions have been carried out with all the main vendors to secure long-term fixed price RPFH and repair and overhaul pricing with capped escalation rates.


BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has won a two-year extension of its long-running Rate Per Flying Hour (RPFH) spares support contract with leading Nepalese regional operator, Yeti Airlines. The Material and Components Repair and Overhaul (MACRO) contract covers the airline’s fleet of seven Jetstream 41 turboprops and covers some 240 separate part numbers. Under the contract, BAE Systems retains responsibility for managing the spares inventory, logistics and repairs.


C&L has signed a five-year contract with Loganair in the UK for the overhaul of all landing gear on its Saab 340 fleet. The gear will be overhauled at the Heroux-Devtek facility in Runcorn, UK.

Lufthansa Technik and Sharjah-based low-cost carrier Air Arabia have signed an airframe related component contract for radome repair. The contract runs over a period of three years and covers radome maintenance for Air Arabia’s Airbus A320 fleet. In addition to the repair services, Lufthansa Technik will support Air Arabia with spare unit support. The repair work will be done at Lufthansa Technik Middle East Services in Dubai.


Lufthansa Technik will provide wheels and brakes support for Thomas Cook Group Airlines. The agreement covers nine Airbus A330s, 53 A320 Family aircraft, 15 Boeing 757s and 16 767s belonging to four of the Group’s airlines. It complements the existing Total Component Support contract for the Airbus fleets of Thomas Cook Group Airlines from February 2015. Lufthansa Technik has provided wheels and brakes services for Condor Flugdienst, one of the four Thomas Cook Group Airlines, since 1998. With the new contract, which took effect in October 2015, Thomas Cook Group Airlines is extending these services to its whole fleet.


Messier-Bugatti-Dowty has signed a 10-year contract with International Airlines Group (IAG) to provide landing gear overhaul services for Airbus A320 Family aircraft of Iberia. The work will be carried out in Gloucester, UK, and Querétaro, Mexico, depending on the location of the fleets involved. It extends the existing partnership on the maintenance of Iberia’s Airbus A340-600 and British Airways’ A320 Family aircraft landing gear, respectively provided by Messier-Bugatti-Dowty at its Molsheim (France) and Gloucester plants. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty is now the landing gear MRO services provider for some 280 IAG aircraft, including all of the A320 Family fleet.


PDQ Airspares has signed a ConsumableCare component support contract with South Korean low-cost carrier Jeju Air for its 20 Boeing 737-800s. Jeju operations personnel will deal directly with PDQ’s central Asian office in Singapore.
