AFI KLM E&M has received its first GE Aviation GEnx-1B engine at its Engine Services division in Amsterdam. The engine from Qatar Airways was contracted out to KLM on behalf of GE for a Quick Turn (QT) maintenance programme that includes replacement of the combustion chamber and several modifications. The QT is intended to swiftly resolve any operational fleet problems for engines in service between shop visits. The engine will be tested in Paris. An Ethiopian Airlines’ GEnx has also arrived for QT work.

FL Technics has signed an agreement with Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines to provide base maintenance support for the carrier’s Boeing 737NGs. The first aircraft has already been delivered to FL Technics’ facilities at Kaunas International Airport, Lithuania. The aircraft will undergo a comprehensive set of maintenance works under a six-year C check, including structure and composite repairs, NDT and technical defect rectification. All maintenance work for the first group of aircraft is expected to be concluded by May 2015, in order for Pegasus Airlines to be fully prepared for the upcoming summer season.

GE Aviation has signed a 10-year OnPoint solution agreement with Royal Air Maroc to support its GEnx engine fleet. The airline recently took delivery of the first of five Boeing 787 Dreamliners. It has also signed a five-year OnPoint solution agreement with Turkish Airlines CF6-80E engines that power three Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

GE Aviation has signed a five-year OnPoint solution agreement with Borajet Airlines for MRO services on the Turkish airline’s CF34-10E engines that power its five EMBRAER 190 aircraft. The agreement is valued at about $30 million over the life of the agreement. Along with the OnPoint solution agreement, GE awarded Borajet Airlines its TRUEngine designation for its CF34-10E engine fleet.

Iberia Maintenance has completed the overhaul and bench testing of its first IAE V2500 engine in its Engine Workshop facilities, after it was licensed last year to repair them. The engine belongs to Vueling, the low-cost Barcelona-based carrier which, like Iberia and British Airways, is part of the International Airlines Group (IAG). Another seven V2500 engines are currently undergoing inspection and repair.

Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey (LTAA) and Chinese carrier Okay Airways have signed a five-year extension of their current maintenance agreement for Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127J engines powering XIAN Aircraft MA-60s.

MTU Maintenance has signed an exclusive maintenance agreement with the Japanese low-cost carrier Solaseed Air,covering all 24 CFM56-7B and -7BE engines powering the airline’s fleet of 12 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The 12-year contract has a value of about $260 million. In addition to engine maintenance, MTU Maintenance will provide Solaseed Air with spare engine and on-site support. The engines will be overhauled at MTU Maintenance in Zhuhai, China.

 

Both companies have 30 days from the receipt of the FAA’s enforcement letter to respond to the agency.

Rolls-Royce and Spanish carrier Air Europa have signed a TotalCare long-term service support contract to support Trent 1000 engines for 14 new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Air Europa already has eight Trent 1000-powered 787-8s on order that will enter service in 2016.

SR Technics and Germania have entered into an exclusive long-term agreement for engine services that is valued at $180 million. It covers CFM56-5B and -7B engines for Germania’s Airbus A319/A321 and Boeing 737-700 aircraft. The work will be carried out at SR Technics’ facilities in Zurich, Switzerland.

StandardAero has signed an exclusive five year contract, with a five year renewal option, to maintain, repair and overhaul Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW126 engines, modules, components and parts for 41 BAE Systems ATP freighters operated by West Atlantic Cargo Airline of Sweden. Services will be provided predominantly at StandardAero’s Tilburg, Netherlands, European Service Center (ESC). Additional services will also be available at StandardAero’s facility in Winnipeg, Canada, as well as on site at West Atlantic’s Malmö, Sweden and Coventry, UK locations. The agreement also includes field services provided by StandardAero technicians.
