Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC) has been awarded a contract by a European cargo airline to upgrade the legacy flight management systems (FMS) on its fleet of 21 Airbus A300-600 aircraft. CMC will supply its latest generation CMA-9000 FMS with vertical navigation functionality as part of the upgrade. The upgraded A300-600s will have a much larger navigation database, improved performance optimisation and an upgrade path to increased datalink capability. The installation will consist of dual CMA-9000 FMSs, providing the aircraft with multisensory-based navigation and enhanced operational capability. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2016.
