AFI KLM E&M has signed a new deal with Corendon Airlines of Turkey to provide engine maintenance services for twelve CFM56-7B engines. The work started in July and is planned to take place until 2018 at AFI KLM E&M facilities in Amsterdam. AFI KLM E&M will provide full engine support, including spare engines.

China Aircraft Services Limited is providing Boeing 777 line maintenance support to Austrian Airlines at Hong Kong International Airport.

Direct Maintenance has been selected by Air Austral, based on La Reunion island, to provide line maintenance support to Air Austral’s brand new Boeing 787-8 fleet, when passing through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at Nairobi, Kenya.

KLM UK Engineering has extended its services to include the Embraer 170/190 Family to meet the growing demands from its customer base. The first heavy checks will start in Norwich in October with the KLM Cityhopper fleet.

Lufthansa Technik and RwandAir have signed an agreement for comprehensive technical support of the Airbus A330 fleet of the African carrier. Two brand-new A330s, the first widebody aircraft for RwandAir, were delivered in September. Under a Total Technical Support TTS contract, Lufthansa Technik will perform aircraft maintenance services, engineering support and ensure a reliable component supply. Lufthansa Technik already provides the Bombardier CRJ fleet of RwandAir with components.

Lufthansa Technik Malta and easyJet have signed a substantial base maintenance contract. More than 100 of the airline’s A320 family will be serviced by Lufthansa Technik during the next five years.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Limited (MAEL) has signed an agreement to support Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A350 operations at Gatwick. The long-term agreement will see the Airbus A350 added to MAEL’s EASA Part 145 approval, allowing Monarch engineers to carry out line maintenance support on the new aircraft type. (See MRO Management, September 2016 for a feature on MAEL’s line maintenance operations).

MTU Maintenance has extended its existing IAE V2500 maintenance agreement with the LATAM Airlines Group by five years to 2024. MTU Maintenance has performed close to 400 shop visits on the TAM Linhas Aéreas (now part of LATAM) fleet since 1999. The extended contract expands on this cooperation and includes coverage of engines from the whole group of airlines’ fleet.

MTU Maintenance has signed an exclusive 10-year agreement with Canadian carrier Sky Regional Airlines for MRO services on the airline’s GE Aviation CF34-8E engines for its Embraer E175 fleet. The agreement covers all shop visits, on-site repairs and lease support as part of its Total Engine Care (TEC) programme. The activities will be coordinated or carried out by MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, the MTU Maintenance group’s specialists for the CF34 family. The contract is valued at approximately $250 million over the 10-year time frame. On-site services include work on high-pressure turbine modules and can also be carried out at MTU Maintenance’s locations in Dallas, TX, and Vancouver, BC.

Sibir Technic, part of ENGINEERING Holding, has completed its S4C check on a Boeing 757-200PCF freighter operated by Yakutia Airlines. This was the first maintenance procedure on this aircraft to be completed in Russia; previously the operator chose to ferry its aircraft abroad for maintenance procedures.
