Associated Air Center (AAC) has redelivered the company’s 21st  Airbus completion project, an ACJ 320 aircraft to a Middle Eastern Head of State customer from its Dallas Love Field facilities. This also represents the company’s 22nd total completion – including both Boeing and Airbus widebody and narrowbody aircraft programmes – for Head of State customers.

The ACJ320 programme began as a green aircraft. The VVIP interior was designed by Andrew Winch and featured a master suite, office, dining lounge, entertainment lounge and specialty seating for guests. AAC technicians then engineered and manufactured the interior furnishings with newly developed construction methods to achieve the customer’s aggressive weight requirements, coming in 10% under the customer’s specifications to provide greater range and reduced operating costs.

In addition to the interior, AAC also achieved the installation and certification of a Ka-band satcom installation with FAA STC and EASA validation.

GAMECO has started its first six year (3C) check on an Airbus A380. The aircraft (B-6136) is operated by shareholder China Southern Airlines (CSN) and arrived on 1 March. The aircraft is expected to leave on 4 June. The work scope covers full painting, weighing and test flight and is covered by 1,550 job cards and generating up to 100,000 manhours. A total of 6,372 items of material and tools will be applied during the check.

In preparation for the check, GAMECO set up a project in April 2016 for material, tools, equipment, personnel training, and application for airworthiness approval. The CSN Maintenance & Engineering Department prepared the modification kit with 172 items, and GAMECO handled 3,800 material items and 780 tools in advance. The customised scaffolding and access platforms were also ready before the arrival of the aircraft.

The interval for an A380’s structural C check is 24 months or 1,700 flight cycles (whichever comes first), and the interval for the systems C check is 12,000 flight hours. GAMECO completed the first A380 1C check in 2013 and its first 2C check in 2015.

GAMECO will complete the six year check for the other four A380 aircraft of CSN in the next two years. The company is also looking at the global market for A380 3C checks in the future.
