Aeronautical Engineers, Inc (AEI) has selected Flightstar Aircraft Services in Jacksonville, FL, as an Authorized Conversion Center. The current success of AEI’s passenger-to-freighter conversion products, which include the 737-400SF, MD-80SF, CRJ200 SF and will soon include the 737-800SF, requires that additional conversion capacity be added to handle the present market demand. AEI currently has a total of 11-13 conversion lines at four active Authorized Conversion Centers worldwide, which include Commercial Jet, in Miami, FL; Commercial Jet Services in Dothan, AL; KF Aerospace in Kelowna, BC, Canada; and Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services in China.

 

Flightstar will set up one line of passenger-to-freighter conversions for AEI beginning in May of this year with a 737-400SF freighter conversion for San Francisco-based Vx Capital Partners.

Air Transport Services Group has announced that its subsidiaries have acquired two Boeing 737-400 aircraft and will convert them to freighter configuration for lease to China-based Okay Airways. ATSG West Leasing, based in Ireland and a wholly-owned ATSG subsidiary, has acquired and will lease the aircraft to Okay in late 2017 for terms of seven years. PEMCO World Air Services, another wholly-owned ATSG subsidiary, will convert the 737-400s to freighters this summer at PEMCO’s facilities at Tampa International Airport. Okay Airways will operate the aircraft in support of its express services for e-commerce and other companies in the domestic China market. ATSG, Okay Airways, and Tianjin Dongjiang Investment holdings, a Tianjin government affiliate, are establishing a joint venture company to support the growing e-commerce market there.

Ameco has completed its first 3C check on a Boeing 747-8F operated by an unnamed customer. Ameco has already conducted C checks on five Boeing 747-8s, of which three belonged to Ameco’s largest customer, Air China. A further 10 C checks are scheduled in the next two years. Ameco built up this capability in 2015 and completed its first Boeing 747-8 2C check in 2016.

PEMCO World Air Services (PEMCO) has secured a three-year maintenance agreement with US low cost carrier Frontier Airlines covering Frontier’s expanding fleet, consisting today of more than 60 Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft, and is expanding via Frontier’s orders for more than 60 additional A320 Family aircraft. In 2016, Frontier awarded PEMCO a contract for heavy maintenance, drop-in, on-call and away maintenance support for its fleet. The new three-year agreement covers heavy checks, induction checks, exit checks, drop-in maintenance, on-call maintenance, and away maintenance, and includes options for extension in two one-year intervals. Maintenance services will be performed primarily at PEMCO’s maintenance facilities at Tampa International Airport.

PEMCO World Air Services has announced an agreement with South Korea-based Air Incheon for the passenger-to-freighter conversion of one Boeing 737-400 aircraft (MSN 25857). Air Incheon, which is currently operating one PEMCO-converted 737-400 (MSN 25190), will take redelivery of its latest aircraft in 3Q17.

Precision Aircraft Solutions has completed its second Boeing 757-200 passenger-to-freighter conversion for Asia Pacific Airlines, a subsidiary of Tan Holdings Corporation, serving Micronesia and the Western Pacific. Along with the cargo conversion, the aircraft received new winglets and flat panel flight deck displays. Work on the aircraft (MSN 25441) was performed at HAECO Americas in Greensboro, NC.
