AAR and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) have signed an MoU to work together to establish a commercial aircraft MRO facility in South Korea. AAR’s 1MRO Network will provide its best practices in MRO as a consultant to KAI. The two providers are also considering operating the new facility under a joint venture. Under the agreement, AAR and KAI will also focus on growing KAI’s MRO services to third-party customers/airlines and AAR will lend its expertise on FAA and EASA certification and licensing requirements.

Airline Investments Ltd (AIL) has announced that, following the recent announcement that bmi regional and Loganair are now part of the newly formed regional airline group, bmi regional will relocate its engineering facilities to Bristol, UK, the origin of the majority of its routes. Loganair will take over the current bmi regional hangar at Aberdeen Airport, where it has expanded its aircraft presence.

Ameco has completed its second Airbus A330 landing gear repair, this time for a Chinese domestic customer.

Ameco has completed the dismantling of its first Boeing 737, which was stripped for spares for GA Innovation China (GAIC), a joint venture founded in early 2013 between GA Telesis and Air China. The disassembly covered more than 1,000 high value-added parts such as engines, thrust reversers, APU, leading edge slats, trailing edge flaps, flap tracks, spoilers, elevators, rudders, heat exchangers, external antennas, partial seats, slides and others. The fuselage teardown will be handled by GAIC. Ameco previously parted out an Air China Boeing 747 in September 2013 for GAIC and will continue to cooperate with the company for more disassembly services in the future.

Ameco has inducted its first IAE V2500 engine into its Beijing workshop following test cell calibration and CAAC, FAA and EASA approval in June.

Ameco will expand its Boeing 747-8I overhaul capability from 5A checks to 2C checks after nearly one year of line maintenance for eight Air China aircraft. This is aimed at seeking more opportunities for overhaul business in the global market. The related training, tooling, documents and material are coming to be completed in the next few months for CAAC approval.

AMTES, part of the Volga-Dnepr Technics subgroup, has been issued with a Part 145 (AR-145) certificate by the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC), extending its MRO capabilities for the Antonov An-124 freighter aircraft at Leipzig/Halle.

Astronics PGA Avionics has announced that a Boeing 747-8 VVIP aircraft was outfitted by a completion centre in Switzerland with a comprehensive, customised IP IFEC/CMS solution. With an Astronics PGA IP system controlling the entire cabin, the aircraft includes the latest suite of IFEC technologies, including full HD touchscreens, audio/visual sources and passenger control units. The CMS simplifies control of the cabin environment from lighting and temperature to door closures. Astronics PGA has also integrated the latest technologies for Digital Right Management (DRM) and games into this solution.

Aviointeriors has been selected by Icelandair to provide Andromeda seats in Business Class and Columbus Three seats in Economy Class on two Boeing 767-300s. These are to be added to the fleet from the spring of 2016, and delivery of the first shipset is scheduled for March 2016.

BCO Aviation has helped Luxair to mark the 12th Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union by collaborating with Luxair Technics’ engineering department for the decoration of seven Bombardier Q400s with the Luxembourg Presidency colours. BCO was responsible for the project management, production and installation of the adhesive film on the fuselage.
